An excerpt from Wind in the Willows

Nice? It's the ONLY thing, said the Water Rat solemnly, as he leant forward for his stroke. Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING - absolute nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing, he went on dreamily: messing - about - in - boats; messing----'

More paperwork for the QDJ Pageant (Project Kraken)

Some more paperwork arrived over the weekend which seemed a lot to start with but on reflection it wasn't too bad and was all about security for the event.  I have known about Project Kraken for some time which is a Police initiative to improve security on waterways.

We had to fill in all sorts of information about the boats and the crew which didn't impinge too much on our privacy.

I assume the Metropolitan Police want to ensure, as early as possible, that the boats and the crews are cleared and they know who is going to be present on the day.  One assumes that if someone goes sick you can replace them.
