An excerpt from Wind in the Willows
Nice? It's the ONLY thing, said the Water Rat solemnly, as he leant forward for his stroke. Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING - absolute nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. 15 Boats to the top of Deepcut
Celebrating with a glass of whiskey
Just a quick blog to say we have managed to get 15 boats to the top
Potter's Pool at Mytchett full to capacity this morning (Sunday) in the freezing cold
of Deepcut (Basingstoke Canal) today with a further 8 to come tomorrow.
Congratulations to Byfleet Boat Club, Basingstoke Canal Society, the IWA and last but not least to the passionate people at the Basingstoke Canal Authority.
I'll publish some photos tomorrow but in the meantime there's one here of the first two boats to the top since 2009 - Hazell Nut and Barley Twist.
